This is an Example of External Style Sheets

This is an example of how a linked external style sheet works. The style sheet is named "samplestyles.css". See what the style sheet code looks like. It is linked to this document using this tag:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="samplestyles.css">

The <link> tag goes inside the <head> </head> tag.

External Style Sheets Are Great!

And now for some filler copy to see how a page can look... so I will tell you about my pets. I have three dogs and two cats. And we cannot forget my tortoise... and there is a story about that one. Hmmm maybe we will talk about that. About 15 years ago my husband was off to go to a meeting and as he was driving down a street near us, he noticed a turtle walking down the yellow line in the center of the road. He drove past, then backed up and opened the drivers door and picked the turtle up. He came home and said, "Claudia, I have a new pet for you."

I wasn't exactly looking for a new pet and we were leaving for vacation the next day, but there he was, a box turtle that I creatively named, Mr. Turtle. We had a very small bunny named Mr. Bun and I put Mr. Turtle in with Mr. Bun. I build them a 10' x 10' pen in our back yard and they were very happy together. They became the best of friends. They enjoyed eating each others food and walking around the pen together.

When we moved down the street I build a special pen for Mr. Turtle and he seemed to really like it. And then he escaped... We had him for 12 years. Sigh. Ah-- but about 9 months ago I got a call from a neighbor who was really excited. "We found your turtle," they said. They lived three doors down. I thought well turtles walk pretty slow but not that slow, but I went down and looked. And thought, no, this is NOT my turtle. It was an African Spurred Tortoise, or Salcata Tortoise. About 40 pounds maybe (I haven't weighed her, just guessing). Mr Turtle probably weighed about 3 or 4 pounds. And this was a girl. I added the photos with my foot so you get an idea of scale.

We brought her home and put her in one of our greenhouses and she has been there ever since. Except during winter we took her in the garage at night to be warm. She enjoys munching on our plants and cruising around the greenhouse. I made her a bigger yard and she basks in the sun in the grassy area. I call her Mrs. Fuggles (which is a name of a style of hops).
