The slider is created using JQuery. It is a bit more advanced than what we cover in this beginning class. I will have the files needed placed in the 4Download folder, if you want to try it out.
The link to JQuery is this: http://api.jquery.com/ They have many other items to try if you are interested.
This example also uses the column text and some moving images, that rotate when you hover over them. There is also the image of my dog Darby saved as a png24 file -outlined and with a shadow created in Photoshop, that is displayed over the right column.
When you download the files, you can see how the work was done. Some of the CSS style includes this to have the photos rotate:
I will fill the remainder of the slider sections with random images and text, just to show off what it can do.

This is my kitty Sophie. She loves my sock frog and carries it around so I find it in mysterious places. My cats must think it has catnip in it - although it is so big compared to their catnip toys. I hide it from them, but they find it and then I have to search for it too. I figure it gives my frog adventures to go on. He ends up out in the hallway a lot. Or down on the stairs. Other times they take it in the closet and hide it in a corner where it is dark. At least they don't chew on it. Or tear him apart. The sock frog was a gift from my husband for Christmas one year. A little different than a sock monkey.
Sushi is one of my favorite foods. I love to watch it being made fresh right there in front of you. Sitting at the sushi bar, drinking hot green tea and eating spicy ginger, dipping the sushi pieces in wasabi diluted with soy sauce. That is a good time to have. I don't eat really exotic sushi. Some has cooked ingredients. Sticky rice and seaweed hold it together. The sesame seeds make it even prettier. Plus the plates are decorative too. Almost too pretty to eat. Food as art.
More food! Eating is good. I like tacos too. Street tacos are fun because they are so small - you can have several different flavors. Spice it up with salsa, cilantro, chopped onions. If you use this slider, be sure to rename the individual sliders headers. you can see each one is seperate divs that are spaced far enough apart that you can't see the next one. It works similar to jump links, moving text up the page, or in this case, what looks like individual pages. It si a nice way to make a portfolio. Horizontal sliders are good for portfolios too.
I like to take pictures with shadows in them. This one is fun because the shadows play across the wood boards on my porch. It becomes layers of textures. My friend says I take pictures of everyday things. I do. I like to shoot food and things that are just sitting around. It becomes a visual diary. And gives me a collection of photos to use in class. For free! I love my phone, because I can take pictures most anywhere and don't have to lug my big camera around. Although it takes better pictures sometimes. Maybe it is a toss up. Hmmm -- hard to decide.
